Roots in the Shadows of San Antonio a SA Underground Music Scene Compilation
CD Release & Website Launch Party
Friday, May 30th / 6pm-10pm
Sala Diaz / 517 Stieren / San Antonio, Texas 78210
Phillip Luna (Even I Have Seizures) and Jason Trevino (ROHI Records) are proud and excited to announce the release of the "Roots in the Shadows of San Antonio" compilation CD. This recording features thirteen San Antonio bands that have been rocking the stages of Central Texas for over twenty five years. These bands are the "Roots" of the current San Antonio underground music scene. All the bands are still actively writing, recording and performing in San Antonio: The Whiskey Ships, The Rosedale Highs, Apache '65, Fear Snakeface, The Please Help, Garrett T. Capps, Douglas Miles Clark, I Ching Gatos, Nat'l Parks, Puppy Jet, King Pelican, Snowbyrd and The Man Eaters of Tsavo.
During summer of 2013 on Sunday at sundown Jason and Phillip presented a different "Roots" artist. Every performance was at a unique location with the intent to raise funds for production. These included The Hays St. Bridge, Dignowitty Park, Cruz Ortiz's art studio, Imagine Bookstore and The Circle School. Beer and food was donated and the artists performed an intimate set that included stories of their experiences in the SA music community and songs from their extensive catalog.
This recording will be given away for free on at the CD release and listening party on Friday May 30th, starting at 6pm. Location: Sala Diaz, 517 Stieren in San Antonio. There will be an announcement of the URL to the site where you can download the free recording. Complimentary Karbach (HTX) craft beer provided by JP Perez and 210 Realty. Donations for CDs and drinks greatly will go to printing more free CDs, mailing fees for college radio stations and promotions as well as to the production of “Roots in the Shadows of San Antonio Vol. 2”.
